Session 3 - The Meeting of the Minds: Understanding Human Capital

In this session day of our class in MICMGMT, we did an online exercise to know if I am a right brain thinker or a left brain thinker. After doing the exercise which involves answering questions, my score seems to lean on the person who is a left brain thinker. In the website it is stated that the left brain thinker tends to process things in sequence meaning everything should be learned step by step to reach or finish a task. It is also stated that a left brain thinker is a list maker, for left brain thinkers has ease in making master schedules and daily plans. It is also said that the left brain are also good in spelling, since spelling is done in sequence. As for the right brained thinker thinks at random, you may finish the same task as a left brained thinker but you can finish much longer for you do things not in sequence. It his hard for right brain thinkers to prioritize.

This really fascinated me and made me think that how great GOD is, making things simple but complex in the same time. It also made me wonder, maybe some how GOD is also a left brained thinker. Why do I say this? Because he planned doing things very meticulously, step by step in creating it and thinking what to create first. So maybe just maybe I am right, GOD is also left brained. J

Session 2 - The Hidden Treasures: Intellectual Capital at Work

On the second session MICMNGMT we had an activity involving the whole class. The class was divided into two groups. Both groups have to fall in-line and one member of each group was to read a short instruction written in a piece of paper he or she will try to memorize as vividly as he or she can for he or she will pass the message to another member of the group by whispering it through his or her ear. This will go on until the last member will write the message on the white board. On our group I was the one to start the message relay (lucky me!). So i did'nt mind I just told myself "chicken feed" I can easily retain anything written on the instruction and passed it full to my group. So then we began, I passed the message to a group member then he passed it to the next, so on and so fort. When the last member of the group have to write the message on the board I had noticed that "what?!? this is'nt the message that i passed!" It was totally different, it came out a as a new message.

My realization on this activity is that following instruction is not merely memorizing what is the message, one must know and have a clear view of the set of instruction. It is very common that message is lost in time as it is passed from one person to another. One must not merely memorize it it should be well documented to have a precise result on the instruction given. Now I now know why "chismis" goes out of proportion its because of this kind of message sharing where the "mouse" in a story will eventually become a "elephant" as the message is passed along. :p

Session 1 – Management and Organization

On this day on Human intellectual Capital Management (One of my class in MIM @ APC) Sir Gerard thought as the importance of following directions… Gerard gave us a piece of paper with directions that we would follow; it was somewhat interesting and yet ironic. I say ironic because, almost all of the class around 70-80% of the class failed in following directions, and the topic for the day is “ TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS” hehehehe…. Weird huh?!? This only means to say that people tend to do things as they come and not understand what they are really have to do. They just do and do. Which makes simple things complicated or make simple things hard to understand.

Lesson learned: In every thing we do we should abide with the rules or we should follow directions. There is no harm in following rules or directions, directions are made (usually) to ease up our load, or make our lives comfortable for example following road signs makes our travel easier and safer. I’m not saying that we should follow each and every rule or directions… but most of the time it really helps.
